How Do I - Start/Stop Service – Tenant
I am a new tenant and want to start water service:
Water service is not transferred to a tenant of a property, nor is an account opened in a tenant’s name. The service will always remain in the property owner’s name and the owner will receive the original bill. Upon the owner’s authorization, the District will mail a bill copy to the service address as a courtesy to the tenant. The bill copy will be addressed to San Juan Water District Customer, but never in the tenant’s name. With this authorization, the tenant can make bill payments.
The District does not prorate bills for rental properties. Prorating is the responsibility of the Owner or Property Management Company.
If you are a new tenant and your lease agreement with your landlord requires you to pay the water bill, please complete the form below. This information is added to the account notes for billing or emergency purposes only. If bill copies are being requested, it is required that the Owner or Property Management Company contact the District to give authorization.
I am already a tenant and want to stop water service:
If you are currently a tenant and you are vacating a property, please complete the fields below and your information will be removed from our system. The District does not generate a final bill or prorate any bills for tenants upon move out. Settlement will need to be arranged with the property owner or property management company.
